a friend of ours who is married to a jw said that this morning for service everyone who was on zoom got to do a call while the rest listened in on the call.
there were thirty-one this morning listening in on one who would call someone to preach to.
shouldn't the person they are calling on be warned first that there will be so many listening in on their phone call from the zoom meeting.
Non profits and charities are exempt in the US from nuisance calls laws. I dont think they are recording video of the callee. How often does anyone even do more than hang up?
Who has a phone number you can find? You know how wicked it is to make a witness call in an adjoining territory.
due to the high number of people that have been infected in the usa ,particulary in ny / ny state and elsewhere and the amount of deaths that have occured there ,i just wonder how many jw`s have been struck down by this virus ?.

I hope they can count better than the government. We are supposed to report any sniffle to the elders. I dont know what they will do then: make us quarantine zoom?
zoom been down in parts of the uk today so church services and meeting been disrupted.. a news paper published some comments and jokes about it .

You dont state your country. Sounds like universal service where you are. After boot camp it gets better. You will make new friends. Bayonets are not front line any more, mostly exercise. Not everyone gets into combat, not even most. If you do you will form a bond like no other.
Learn the math, mechanics, computers, machinery, it will serve you well all your life.

one thing that aggravates me is long concluding prayers, especially at the midweek meeting.
you work all day, rush home, grab a quick bite, dress up in meeting clothes.
then, go to the meeting.

so my wife tells me yesterday....on saturday we having a emergency disaster class on saturday.
kinda like most corporation have and it's through zoom.
Geez. Disaster drill? What disaster ever came on a convenient schedule? As for getting into a group, the advice is to go to the worldly shelters, or a relative( preferably believing) When they went to the Astrodome witb signs to extract witnesses it was to place them in a private home somewhere. Not a compound or any place that would cost money.
Better to rely on catholic relief, salvation army OR the better organized mormons and hope for compassion.
i am pimo, but now have 40+ years of being a jw as i was raised in a 3rd generation family of witnesses and continue to fake my way through things - fading as i can.. for the vast majority of my time as a jw, the meetings were the central focus for all jws to get teaching, association, information and so on.
nothing was more important than being at the meetings!
over the last 20 years starting with the elimination of the weekly book study in homes and continuing down to today - my opinion is that the value/purpose of the weekly meetings continues to be diluted or minimized.
We jumped for joy, then realized no more goody nights. And then they renamed it and put it at the end of midweek, and made it even more boring. Read a blow by blow of a text, then read the scripture nearly word for word then make sure to use up every one of the 30 minutes with inane questions.

That bookstudy was the meeting with no tie. Actually a get together of sorts. they ran out of people with homes to use, got worried about liability. The saving gasoline was the biggest lie ever. The names became a formality thing.
I can daydream at meeting anyway, zoom just enables it a bit.
Midweek is the most tedious meeting. Unrealistic skits and videos. I wish for a way to project the mystery 3000 audience on the screen. remember when announcements were in the middle of the "2" meetings? I used to wait just long enough to hear them and then left along with several others. I had a job and kids had school. Now you have to wait to the bitter end to hear the poorest reader they have tell about the liberry and pitchers. He even actually said mono- tone- us.
